My Story

I’m a country girl at heart, born and raised on a dairy farm in Tillamook, Oregon. Moving to the Willamette Valley in 1999. In 2006, I married my high school sweetheart, and in 2009, we welcomed our first child—our only son. His birth was the beginning of a journey that would eventually lead me to my calling as a doula.

After hours of pushing, his birth ended in a cesarean section. At the time, I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know—or how valuable it would have been to have someone by my side who was focused solely on informing and supporting me. When I became pregnant with our second child in 2011, I was told that a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) wasn’t an option, leading to a repeat cesarean. That experience was emotionally difficult, and I struggled with postpartum depression, prompting me to dive into research about birth options and support.

I wasn’t sure if our family was complete, but I knew I couldn’t willingly face another cesarean without exploring other possibilities. Eventually, I found a supportive provider team, including a home birth midwife who acted as my doula during a hospital birth. With their care and guidance, I experienced a successful VBA2C in 2014—an empowering and transformative moment that changed everything for me. It was around this time that I learned what a doula truly was, and I felt a fire ignite within me. I knew I wanted to be for others what I had needed so deeply for myself.

In 2014, I experienced my first birth center birth—a fast and fierce delivery. Then, in 2022, our youngest baby was also born at a birth center. Unlike my previous VBACs, this birth was more challenging, giving me a new perspective on the wide range of emotions and experiences that come with labor and delivery. Through it all, having the right support made a profound difference. It’s that kind of compassionate, informed care I strive to offer every client I work with.

My personal birth experiences—from cesareans to VBACs—have given me a deep understanding of the emotional and physical journey of childbirth. I know firsthand how important it is to feel heard, supported, and empowered, and I am honored to walk alongside families as they welcome new life into the world.
